Studying “European Business Management” in English or German
Today’s managers and employees are expected to consider the similarities and differences of the European Member States in their entrepreneurial actions.
International students at EUFH have the option to obtain the political, economical and cultural knowledge about Europe as well as the language skills required
for their future careers when participating in our 3-month “European Business Management Programme”.
The programme is offered each year from October to December and 30 ECTS will be awarded upon successful completion. There is an English-taught and
German-taught programme version, both run simultaneously.
In order to learn how to manage successfully with(in) Europe the curriculum has the following structure:
-
The subject “European Business Strategies” aims on demonstrating the complexity of cross-border management when taking into account various economic aspects at once. Therefore
several strategic managerial instruments are applied in European case studies and a business game respectively.
-
Europe’s development into a common political, economical and cultural region is a dynamic process that constantly changes the framework of entrepreneurial decision-making- The subject “European
Integration” therefore illustrates the political structures of the European Union and gives an overview of the unification process. With this knowledge the students will be able to react to Europe’s
dynamic and the evolving economic consequences on time.
-
In order to show how the European integration process affects the individual fields of managerial activity, EBM focuses on Marketing and Financial Management and
examines both fields exemplarily. In “Methods of International Marketing” students will discover the special challenges of cross-border and cross-cultural markets by looking at
questions arising in market research activities. In “European Financial Management” the students will revise the basic principles of international capital markets
(e.g. the function and responsibilities of Central Banks and the European Central Bank in particular) and will learn how banks invest internationally and how they perceive
their customers.
-
In the “Case Study” the students develop an international market launch strategy for a self-chosen product or service in teams. This gives them the opportunity to deepen their
theoretical knowledge gained in the other European Business Management courses through practical application.
-
In the Case Study the students will be working in teams with other EBM students from different countries. They will therefore experience the challenges dealt with in
the subject “Working in international Teams”. Furthermore, the lecturer of this subject will accompany and support the case study groups actively.
-
The objective of the course “Cross-cultural Business Training” is to ensure that the students become aware of their own cultural background and, therefore, will be able to understand and/or avoid
misunderstandings caused by cultural differences.
-
Language is a basic requirement for getting access to new markets and cultures respectively. This is why a language course belongs to the EBM programme. Students can chose a “European” language like German,
English, Spanish, etc. (Classes will be organized if enough students are interested.)
-
Moreover, the EBM-Programme includes “Field trips” to a European Institution (e.g.
European Parliament in Brussels) and an internationally operating company.
